Jersey Post International is founded

Jersey Post has been through many incarnations over the years. It was established in 1969 when the Crown dependencies were authorised to set up their own postal services, separate from the British mainland. Yet, despite this independence, Jersey (and its neighbouring Channel Islands) use postcodes taken from the mainland postcode network.

However, it was not until 2006 that Jersey Post International Limited came into being when the States of Jersey registered the company on 1 July. By transferring mail services to a limited company rather than running them through a state-run operation, they could be opened to competition.
