A bishop’s daughter is killed on Jersey Railway

Several papers carried the story of Emma Chadwick’s suicide on the Jersey Railway. Passers-by had spotted the girl, whose father was the Bishop of Derry and Raphoe, step in front of an oncoming train. She had been in Jersey since the previous November, having been sent to the island to recover from overwork.
