Ralph Vibert is born

Ralph Vibert was Jersey’s solicitor general from 1948 until 1955 and, for two years from 1957, a deputy representing St Brelade. In 1959 he was elected a senator and remained in post until his retirement in 1987. He spent the Second World War as a cypher instructor in the New Forest before instructing Special Operations Executive recruits in India. He died on 10 November 2008, aged 97.
