Measles outbreak at the boys’ home
Measles infected 35 residents of the Jersey home for boys in what came to be described variously as an “epidemic” or “plague”. Six of the boys subsequently contracted pneumonia, perhaps from spending too long laying down, and their treatment was extended further. A thanksgiving service was held at Gorey Church once all the boys had been declared well.
