First cat to fly from Jersey finds fame

Swannie made history when it became the first cat to fly between Jersey and the mainland. The Eastbourne Gazette of 17 October reported that the nine-year-old pet, belonging to Mrs Sutton Chapman, had made the crossing on 29 September and had behaved quite well until the plane encountered an air pocket. Its fare was ten shillings.
