The National Trust for Jersey holds its first formal meeting
The Very Reverend Samuel Falle, the Dean of Jersey, chaired the National Trust for Jersey’s first official meeting on 3 August, even though the charitable organisation had not, at that point, been incorporated by the States of Jersey. This happened a little over six months later, on 11 February 1937, “for the purposes of securing the permanent preservation for the benefit of the island of lands and tenements (including buildings) of beauty or historic interest, and as regards lands, for the preservation (so far as practicable) of their natural aspect, features, and plant life”.
